Windows Defender is the default security tool in Windows 10. Since its introduction, it has improved significantly thanks to many new features, making it increasingly secure. Now, a new mode called Sandbox has been introduced. This mode helps to enhance its performance.
Thanks to this sandbox feature in Windows Defender, you can create an isolated and secure environment within the operating system āWindows 10 in this caseāwhere you can run some system applications. And now you can activate this mode on your computer. We'll show you how.
This mode has already been released to Insider program users, but even if you're not part of the program, you can easily activate it on your computer. We'll need to use the Windows PowerShell console to do this . So, we'll activate Sandbox.
Therefore, we open a PowerShell window with administrator privileges. We can do this using the keyboard shortcut Win+X, or by right-clicking the Windows 10 Start menu icon. In the command line that appears on the screen, we need to enter one command, which will enable this mode in Windows Defender. We need to type: setx /M MP_FORCE_USE_SANDBOX 1
Then we press Enter and wait for the process to finish. We can then exit, and it's best to restart the computer . This will take effect with the changes we've made to Windows Defender. When we turn the computer back on, we'll have Sandbox enabled.
Once you've restarted your computer, if you want to check if Sandbox is working in Windows Defender , you can go to the Task Manager. There, in the running processes, look for one called MSMpEngCP.exe. If you find it, then it's working normally.
