When it comes to reading electronic books on the computer, in the Microsoft Store we have a large number of options available that allow us to comfortably enjoy our books. However, very few, if not none, it also allows us to organize our e-books, at least for free.
If you are looking for an application to manage your library of books, the best option today, and which is also open source and free, is Caliber, one application all in one that allow us to read, manage and organize electronic books in any format.
Caliber allows us automatically download metadata of any book, including the ISBN, metadata that we can modify or create if it is not found in the database. It also allows us to add comments to the books we have already read, to write a short summary or highlight the most important points.
Caliber allows us convert files to book format, create indexes and margins or create directly from scratch through the built-in scripts that are responsible for automatically generating the structure of the book.
If in addition to reading books on our computer, we also use a smartphone or tablet, we can share our library with the rest of the devices and make a backup copy if we do not want to lose our library in case our equipment stops working.
Caliber is available for Windows, in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. In addition, there is also available in portable version, an option that we should take into account if we want to keep our entire library on an external drive, a highly recommended option if our library of books has grown to a considerable size.
This fantastic app is also available for both iOS and Android, although on both platforms, we can only use the application to read books, nothing more.
