In the latest Windows 11 update, Microsoft has added numerous features and tools based on Artificial Intelligence to many of its applications. One of them has been the popular program Paint, which we've all used at least once. In this article we are going to see cHow to generate images with Paint Cocreator, since that is the name of the new function.
Is a new tool based on Dall-E from OpenAI that we can use to generate artistic content in Paint following a series of previous instructions in text form. Microsoft has launched it relatively recently, and only in some countries on a trial basis. At the moment, in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Italy, France and Germany. And only in English.
How Does It Work?
Although there are still many details to discover, Microsoft has already announced that the basic operation of Paint Cocreator will be very simple. The user must enter a series of text indications and, with the information received, the function will automatically generate artistic content.
Actually, It is the same mechanics that other similar tools use. To gauge the excellence of Pain Cocreator, what is truly interesting is to know, on the one hand, what is the degree of precision or interpretation of the artificial intelligence from the text that the user provides. On the other hand, there is the question of the quality to be expected from the images generated. To note both issues, obviously tests must be carried out. And users from countries other than those mentioned above do not have much room for this. For now.
What is known is that Paint Cocreator offers different styles of art from the description entered. Simply choose the one you want and the program will add it to the canvas.
As a summary, we can say that the way to use this new tool is as follows: start Paint, we will see the classic toolbar on the canvas. In it, along with the color palette, there is a button called "Cocreator", which is what we must press to access this new functionality. From there, its use is based on three simple steps, ordered from top to bottom in the right column:
- Description: We must write what we want to create in the most detailed way possible in the text box in the right column marked as «Describe what you'd like to create» (describe what you would like to create).
- Style: we can choose between several possibilities, in addition to the option no selection to let the AI act freely:
- Charcoal (charcoal drawing).
- ink sketch (ink sketch).
- Watercolor.
- Oil painting.
- Digital Art.
- Photorealistic.
- anime.
- pixel art.
- The Creation: once the options have been chosen, click on the button "Create" and, after about 10-15 seconds of waiting, a series of variations will appear on the screen among which we can select the one we like the most or the one that best represents the idea that we have tried to explain in the description.
The variation we choose will be displayed large on the main canvas, where we will optionally be able to give a final touch to the creation using the basic Paint tools that we all know.

- From there we open Microsoft Store.
- Next, we look for Paint and we update the application with the latest version available (version 11.2309.24.0 or later).
- After the update, we open Paint.
- To ensure that we are logged in with our microsoft account, we click on the profile.
- Then we press the button «Cocreator», which is located at the top right.
- Finally, we click on the option "Join the waiting list."
Microsoft will notify us by email when our request has been approved and will give us 50 credits to start. Each credit allows you to generate a new set of images.
Participating in this is really exciting, since the final way in which Microsoft ends up officially presenting Paint Cocreator will depend largely on the comments, opinions and contributions of the chosen users. Therefore, from Windows News we encourage you to try Cocreator on your PC with Windows 11 and share your impressions with us.
Important: not everything goes. Microsoft will apply a content filtering and will use other security measures to prevent the generation of images that may be harmful, offensive or inappropriate. It will also invite users to report images that, with the parameters they have entered, may fall into any of these cases.
