In a previous post we had already explained what had to be done to activate Windows 10 with CMD commands. Well, now it's time to do the same with the next (and for now, the most recent version) of the Microsoft operating system. In this post we explain what to do to activate Windows 11 with CMD commands.
The method we explain below is very similar to the one used for Windows 10, although there are some small differences.
In both cases, the activation process is very important. Only then is it possible verify that we have an original copy of the operating system, That is, it has not been used before on more devices than permitted by the Microsoft Software License Terms.
In this specific case, it is not necessary to resort to external programs or unreliable applications. The options we have are to update directly to Windows 11 from Windows 10, or download the version of Windows 11 that we want and then activate it for free with one of the licenses that we will see below.
The importance of installation
A few years ago, Microsoft removed the obligation to enter the product key to be able to perform a Windows installation. Before that, there was a courtesy period in which the system could be used without the password, but in the end it always ended up asking its users. Today, however, there is no obligation to do this. Which is in art positive and in part negative.
The obvious advantage is being able to use the system without problems. But there are some drawbacks. For example, the fact of not being able to access certain features such as the configuration of the Start menu, the synchronization of settings between devices or some customization options, among other things.
License codes to install Windows 11 with CMD
The license code is basic to activate Windows 11 using CMD (or Command Prompt). Depending on the version of the operating system that we have installed on our computer, we can use one or the other. These are generic codes provided by Microsoft for free. This is the complete list, ordered by versions:

Activate Windows 11 with CMD step by step
Now that we have the codes and we know which ones we can use depending on the version of Windows 11 that we have installed, let's see how to proceed with activation. Obviously, the first step is to run Command Prompt as Administrator.
Although almost all Windows users already know how to do it, we remember that to open the CMD or Command Prompt there are two options:
- Through the key combination Windows + R, then typing "cmd" and pressing OK.
- Typing "cmd" in the Windows search box and by clicking on "Symbol of the system".
Afterwards, you have to run the program as administrator and follow the following steps:
- To begin, we write the following code in the first line: slmgr.vbs -upk. With this, we will be able to delete previous keys that may have been installed.
- Then we write slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX–XXXXX–XXXXX. Here, obviously, the "X" must be replaced by the numbers corresponding to the selected key.
- Then we enter the code slmgr/skms kms.digiboy.ir.
- Finally, we write the code slmgr / ato.
But we're not done yet. Before finishing, it is necessary verify that Windows 11 has been activated correctly. To do this, without leaving the Command Prompt yet, we write the code slmgr / xpr and then we press Enter. If after doing this a new window appears with the message "The device is permanently activated", we will know the process has been successful. Windows 11 has been activated for free forever.
Programs to recover Windows 11 license
It should also be noted that it is possible to activate Windows 11 with a previous license of Windows 7, 8 or 10. If we have an old computer at home equipped with one of these operating systems, it can be Extract the key and use it for the new installation of Windows 11.
For this we will need the help of some external program. Although there are many reliable programs (and many more that certainly are not), using them involves installing new software on our computer, which is not always advisable: they will take up storage space and, with a bit of bad luck, They can be the gateway for malware to enter our computer.
For these reasons, it is much better to use the method that we have explained before. That is, for activate Windows 11 via CMD commands and thus be able to use the operating system with all its functions and with complete peace of mind.
