For several versions of Windows, Microsoft has tried to create a "standard" folder where we can store our images, documents, videos, music, and so on. Some users have become so accustomed to using these folders that they can't live without them . The problem arises when we want to find a document, image, or video in these folders, which over time accumulate a considerable amount of space, making the information inside more of a nightmare than a useful resource. To avoid this, many users prefer to directly control both the downloading of images and any other type of information that passes through their PC by always placing it on their desktop. This way, we always have control over all the documents, videos, images, and other files on our PC.
To do this, we simply need to use the Desktop as the location for any file that comes onto our computer. Once on our Desktop, we can share, install, play, store them on an external drive, or simply delete them. This way, our hard drive space will always be optimized to the maximum, and we won't have storage problems, in addition to having all the information properly organized. Although most files can be placed directly on the Desktop, files downloaded from the internet, whether photos or videos, are automatically downloaded to the Downloads folder, where everything downloaded ends up and which eventually becomes a bottomless pit.
To avoid this, it's best to set the desktop as the location for all downloads . This way, once it's on your hard drive, you can install it if it's an application, delete it, watch and archive the movie, modify a file and share it... to do this, you must follow these steps.
Change default folder for downloads in Microsoft Edge
- First of all we go to the Configuration from Microsoft Edge and select Advanced settings.
- In the section Downloads you will find the name of the folder in which the files that come from the internet are downloaded.
- To change it we must click on Change. Next we look for the location we want, in this case it would be Desktop if we want to place all the downloads there so that we always have them at hand.
