On our Windows 10 computer, we have the option to choose from several default power plans . There are three options in total. However, these plans may not suit everyone's needs. Therefore, we can create our own custom power plan to better suit our computer usage.
This power plan allows you to configure all sorts of aspects. Think about things like how long the screen takes to turn off, the brightness level, or how certain buttons will behave in Windows 10. These are the aspects you need to consider when creating a power plan.
The steps involved aren't really complicated . So all types of users will be able to follow them to create their own power plan in the operating system. It's much simpler than many users think. Here's what we need to do:
Create your own power plan in Windows 10
First, we need to access the Control Panel . To do this, type "Control Panel" in the search bar on the taskbar and click on it. Once in the Control Panel, go to the Hardware and Sound section. There you'll find the Power Options section, which is what you need to click on.
Once we've accessed that option or section, we'll see a menu appear in the left panel of the screen. We need to look at this menu, because that's where we'll find the "create a power plan" function. This is precisely the one we're interested in. We click on it and wait for a new window to open on the screen, with a wizard.
Windows 10 provides a sort of wizard to help us create this custom power plan. First, we'll be asked to give the plan a name, which we can choose. This isn't too important; after entering the name, we simply click the Next button.
The next screen is where the power plan configuration actually begins . First, we're asked to configure the computer's screen sleep mode. This means setting how long the screen should remain off before turning off if the computer isn't in use. We also choose how long we want Windows 10 to remain in sleep mode. This is something each user should adjust to their preference.
On the other hand, we can adjust the screen brightness for this power plan. Once we've found the desired brightness, we can click the "Create" button to officially set the power plan for our computer. As you can see, it doesn't take long.
Once we've created it, we'll be taken back to the page where the power plans in Windows 10 are listed. There, we'll see the new plan we created. If we click on the "Change plan settings" option and then on " Change advanced power settings ," we'll be able to configure various aspects of the plan. This allows for greater customization and lets us configure additional details, which will certainly make it more convenient for users.
Once this is configured, we can exit that screen and select the plan so that it will be the one used on our Windows 10 computer. We have now created and set our own power plan.
