The formatting process of a Windows 7 PC is divided into three phases: the first to configure the installation media, the second phase which consists of the formatting itself, and the third to make the final configuration adjustments.

Phase 1: Configure the installation media

This is what we should do:

  1. To begin with, we restart the PC and we access the BIOS or UEFI (this is usually done by pressing some keys like F2, F10, Del or Esc during startup).
  2. In the BIOS, you have to change boot order so that the installation media (USB drive or DVD drive) becomes the first option. Then save the changes.
  3. Finally, We start the Windows 7 installer by pressing any key when this message appears: «Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.»

Phase 2: Format the computer with Windows 7

The steps to follow are these:

  1. First We select the language and regional settings, then click “Next”.
  2. Then we click on "Install Now" in order to start the process in this way.
  3. We accept the license terms by checking the corresponding box and clicking on “Next”.
  4. Now, We choose the type of installation (“Custom – Advanced” is recommended for a clean install.)
