If you want to know How to transfer photos from mobile to computer in Windows 10, Windows 11 or earlier versions, in this article we show you all the options available whether it is an Android smartphone or an iPhone.
Transfer photos from an Android mobile to a computer
To transfer photos from an Android mobile to a Windows 10 computer, we have different methods at our disposal, methods that vary depending on the hardware of our device.
Bluetooth
If your computer is relatively recent, it is very likely that it includes bluetooth. Although this method is not as fast as using a cable, it is ideal if we want a small group of images or the odd video.
To transfer the photos from an Android mobile to a computer using the bluetooth connection, the first thing we must do is link both devices. To link both devices, we must perform the following steps:
- We access the Windows settings through the keyboard shortcut Windows + i.
- Next, click on Devices.
- In the left column click on Bluetooth and other devices and go to the right column.
- Next, click on Add Bluetooth or another device.
- At that time, we activate bluetooth on our device so that our team detects it.
- When the model of our smartphone is displayed, click on it to link it and the same code number will be displayed on both the mobile and the computer to confirm that it is the same device.
To send a file, photos or videos from the mobile to a computer, we will carry out the following steps:
- In the task bar, on the right side, click on the ? to access the bluetooth options of our device.
- Next, we place the mouse on the bluetooth icon and press the right mouse button.
- Next, we select the Receive a file option.
- Now, we go to our mobile and select the file, photo or video that we want to transfer to the computer.
- Next, click on the Share button and click on the Bluetooth button.
At that time, the computer will display a bar showing the progress of the shipment.
One has finished sending, we must click Finish after selecting the location where we want to store the file.
If we do not click on the Finish button, the file will be automatically deleted and we will have to send it again following the same steps.
Cable
If we want to extract each and every one of the photos and videos that we have stored on our device, to free up space or make a backup, the bluetooth solution is useless.
It does not work for us because it is much slower to carry out this process than if we use the cable that we usually use to charge the device.
To transfer photos from an Android mobile to a Windows computer, we must perform the following steps:
- First of all, we use the cable to charge the device, but instead of connecting it to the charger, we connect it to a USB port on our computer.
- Next, we wait a few seconds for Windows to detect the device.
- Next, we go to the screen of our mobile and from the different options that are displayed, we select the option: Transfer photos.
At that moment, Windows will activate the device as a traditional storage unit and will allow us to access the images and photographs that are stored inside it.
If, in addition, we are using a memory card, this will also be shown as an additional storage unit that we will be able to access.
The images are located in the DCIM directory. The name DCIM comes from its abbreviation in English Digital Cameras Images. Once we have copied the content to our computer, we can delete it from the device.
Transfer photos from an iPhone to a computer
The process to pass photos from an iPhone to a computer managed by Windows, it is practically reduced to one. At least, as long as we do not want to install third-party applications to carry out the process.
Cable
The fastest and easiest method in the same that we have at our disposal in Android, connecting our iPhone to a computer through the charging cable.
However, it is necessary that we have previously installed iTunes on computer, since it includes the necessary drivers to be able to carry out the process and for the device to recognize the iPhone as an additional storage unit.
iTunes is available for your download completely free through the following link to the Microsoft Store. Do not download iTunes from any source other than the official Microsoft Store.
Once we connect the iPhone to the computer, Windows will recognize the device as another storage unit, as long as we don't open iTunes. If we open iTunes, Windows will not recognize the iPhone as a drive.
To transfer the photos from the iPhone to a computer, we access the unit created by our iPhone and copy all the folders that are inside the DCIM directory.
All photos are classified in folders by year and month. In this way, if we look for the photographs taken in April 2022, we go to the folder 202204_
Depending on the Windows configuration that you have established, once we connect the iPhone to the computer (always with iTunes closed), Windows will recognize the device and will invite us to Import the photos from the iPhone without having to access the storage unit that is created.
iFunBox
If you only want to extract certain images and the process that I have shown you above does not seem comfortable to you, we can use the iFunbox application.
iFunbox is a free application, which allows us to access all the photos and videos stored on the device and export them to our computer quickly and easily.
To transfer photos from an iPhone to a computer, we must connect our iPhone to the computer and open the application.
- Next, click on Photos and select all the photos and/or videos that we want to copy to our device.
- Next, we click on the Export button located in the upper menu bar and select the path where we want to store them.
- Once the process is finished, we can delete the selected images to free up space on the device.
