When we learn that Samsung has been working on Tizen for some time to become independent of Android, or that Huawei itself wants to do the same with a fork version, doubts arise in our minds when we combine that news with this one we have in our hands, which indicates how difficult it is for certain app design teams that have to focus on different operating systems.
Kik has had an app on Windows Phone for some time now, but it hasn't received a significant update in quite a while. The reason for this seems to be that they're focusing their resources on the two mobile operating systems that garner the most attention: Android and iOS.
Rod McLeod, director of communications for Kik, refers to this same thing in these words:
We are not currently working on an update for Windows Phone, as our resources are specifically dedicated to Android and iOS. However, we do plan to release a new version, but that will be in the future.
Bad news for those users who have Kik as their favorite chat app, even though we are at a time when other apps like Messenger, Snapchat and WhatsApp have taken the lead in this category of online messaging applications.
Looking at other apps, the Kik app on Windows Phone is riddled with problems , such as unexpected crashes and rather horrendous battery management, with the annoying ability to drain 50% of the battery in just a few hours. That's reason enough to uninstall it and switch to other messaging apps.
So if you're one of those users, we recommend you switch to another app , as it seems that the new version will still be a while away.
