Although Windows is an operating system that recognizes a large amount of hardware , especially after Windows 7 and Windows 10, there are times when certain hardware is not easily recognized.
This isn't a major problem if we have the drivers and know which hardware is causing the issues , but how do we know? Generally, one would think that Windows 10 would tell you which hardware isn't working, but in practice, this isn't entirely the case, and any user could go quite a while without knowing what the problem is with their computer because of this situation.
The solution to this is very easy. Windows has an application called Device Manager that shows us not only the devices our computer has , but also which ones are working properly and which ones aren't . This application is important not only when we have a problem with certain hardware on our computer, but also after installing Windows, as it will tell us which drivers to install and which ones to skip.
To access Device Manager, go to My Computer , right-click on the icon, and select Properties . In Properties, find the Hardware tab and then click the " Device Manager " button.
Windows 10 has added a new way to access this manager . You can now right-click on the Windows Start Menu and select the " Device Manager " option.
If everything is working correctly and the installation is optimized, the Device Manager will look something like this. Otherwise, the device will appear with an alert symbol or at least the category will be displayed with a generic name.
In any case, the Device Manager is a great step to know if Windows recognizes the hardware or not of our computer or our equipment.
