Microsoft has stated that will make big changes to Microsoft Edge, changes that will make the web browser more than just a web browser and not thanks to add-ons or extensions.
At the moment we know that in addition to being a browser it will be a great file and document reader. Edge can currently open pdf documents but with the new Windows 10 Redstone 2 update, Microsoft Edge will be able to open Epub documents without any problem.
But there are not only news regarding the supported format. In addition, some functions have been incorporated so that the browser applies different backgrounds and colors depending on the ambient light and the reading. So, if we have an Epub open we can read it as if it were a reading app but we can also do it with web pages, something that Firefox and Chrome currently have.
Microsoft Edge will be a great substitute for those who want to read on Windows 10
This feature is expected to hit all Windows 10 in March, with the Redstone 2 update but fast ring users already have this feature in their Edge browser, something that they will be able to value and give their opinion as well as ask for new functions, according to the guys at Microsoft.
But not all files will work. The pdf files as well as the epub files that we read have to be free of all DRM and in the case of Epub, although it gets along well with the xml standard, it is recognized that there will be an error in its reading, but something specific that will not affect the vast majority of users.
Personally, I think this new function is interesting because There are not many free and free reading apps in Windows 10, something that seems to change with this new feature from Microsoft or at least we hope so. As well as we wait for the new functions of Microsoft Edge, something that without a doubt we will know shortly.
