During the last months Microsoft has sung to the four winds its new love for multiplatforms and Free Software, something that began with email and has ended with the integration of Ubuntu in Windows 10. And it seems that Microsoft does not get tired .
We have recently learned that Microsoft will launch an application called RemoteEdge which will allow run Microsoft Edge on any operating system, including Linux and MacOS. RemoteEdge will be a web application so Microsoft has communicated that it only needs Html5, technology that all current browsers support, so users will have no problem running RemoteEdge and getting all the features of Microsoft Edge without having to change the operating system.
Microsoft insists that this app like this functionality are exclusive for developers And just so they can develop websites for Edge, removing this feature, Microsoft Edge will remain a web browser exclusive to Windows 10 and its various platforms, but it will never end up on another operating system, something we are not so sure about.
Microsoft Edge will work on Linux thanks to RemoteEdge
The idea is to use Microsoft Edge for development but that does not prevent certain users can use Microsoft Edge in a Linux browser such as Midori and use it as the default web browser. There will be no usage restrictions at the moment, but we imagine that after the big anniversary update, users will use this new browser too much, not only Windows 10 users but also Mac OS users and Linux users, especially the latter who tend to miss Windows a lot.
Personally, I think that RemoteEdge and the possibility of using Microsoft Edge in other environments such as Gnu / Linux is great news since it allows websites, especially those that always use the latest web technology, to be able to develop on Edge and there is no lag as has happened with Internet Explorer, although to be honest, I highly doubt that the greatest use is from the developers What do you think?
