In recent days, several information related to the Surface Phone have appeared, important information but with little evidence to support it, although it seems to be true.
These reports discuss the launch of the Surface Phone, Microsoft's powerful and highly anticipated mobile device. This phone, which was initially slated for release at the end of this year or early 2017 at the latest, will now be delayed.
And although we will see it on the market, we will see it a year late compared to the promised dates, with this device appearing at the beginning of 2018.
Microsoft is currently working on the Surface Phone, but they are not guaranteeing the dates that were initially proposed. They acknowledge that they are behind schedule and that a problem in the project could significantly delay the planned timeline.
Joe Belfiore could have caused the Surface Phone launch delay
But before this announcement, we learned something more interesting that could be the cause of this delay. Apparently, one of the most important figures at the old Microsoft, Joe Belfiore, has returned to Microsoft . Belfiore was the head of Microsoft's mobile division until 2015. At that time, the executive took a leave of absence to travel the world; this leave has ended, and he is now back in a department he no longer recognizes.
So far Panos Panay was and is (since we do not know otherwise) in charge of Microsoft's mobile division but this may change with the arrival of Belfiore and therefore the delay of this mobile.
In any case, if it's because of this executive's arrival, the news isn't bad at all; quite the opposite. Windows Phone has plummeted in the last year, partly due to Microsoft's decisions, so perhaps with Belfiore's addition, Microsoft's mobile operating system will get back on track and grow with or without the Surface Phone.
