Rumors and information about the Surface Phone continue to surface from all sides. The latest to speak about this device has been Satya Nadella, Microsoft's CEO. In an interview published in the Australian Financial Review , Nadella states that the Surface Phone will not be a mobile phone like the iPhone or the latest Google Pixel , but something more.

Microsoft's goal with its mobile line will be to make a difference and provide something different to the user , something they cannot find on other devices.

With this, Satya Nadella means that the Surface Phone will have something that sets it apart from the rest, making it the ultimate mobile phone on the market. But what will that be? Unfortunately, Nadella hasn't answered this question, but if we consider his criticisms of the iPhone and Android phones, it won't be something we find in those devices . In other words, it won't be the screen that makes the Surface Phone stand out, nor its high-capacity battery or fingerprint sensor—features we find in other devices.

Many experts interpreting Nadella's words say that the defining feature of the Surface Phone will be the ability to install .exe files on the device. Some suggest that the launch date will coincide with Redstone 3 , which will allow legacy Windows applications to run on ARM platforms, something that Universal Windows Platform apps already do.

So, many are saying that the Surface Phone will be the first mobile device capable of running older Windows applications , something many users will appreciate, especially those still using older apps. But all of this is just rumors and opinions circulating after Nadella's interview. For now, it's all just rumors, and nothing more concrete exists about the Surface Phone.

Personally, I think Microsoft could follow in Blackberry's footsteps, and if the Surface Phone doesn't achieve the expected success, Microsoft might not make any more phones .
