Windows 10 continues to reach more and more users, thanks in part to Microsoft's persistent efforts. However, it's not all good news for the Redmond company, which today received bad news from a report published by the prestigious website Net Applications, indicating that Windows has fallen below 90% market share for the first time in 10 years.
With the arrival of Windows 10, Microsoft and practically everyone else assumed that Windows, in all its current versions, would further increase its dominance. However, this doesn't seem to be the case, and its market share has fallen by 1,68% in the last month, dropping from 90,45% in March to 88,77% in April.
Undoubtedly the market share of the different Windows that are present in the market is more than interesting and overwhelming, but after 10 years it is difficult and surprising to understand this decline, especially considering what was expected of the new Windows 10.
It seems that the decline in market share has a lot to do with the decline in Windows 7 users , who are abandoning the most popular version of Microsoft's operating system, but not to upgrade to Windows 10, but to opt for other software available on the market.
The market share of Windows is still very important, and although for the first time in 10 years it has fallen below 90%, it is not at the moment something worrisome for Microsoft. It would be necessary to be very attentive to how it evolves in the coming months and see especially if some of Windows' rivals grow or, on the contrary, stagnate without offering figures that suggest growth.
