Windows Movie Maker is a developer program by Microsoft with which we can edit videos with more than basic options and with which we can do little if our claims are somewhat high. This software, which has never been included natively in any version of Windows, is part of the Windows Essentials suite.
Windows Essential is an application package with which Microsoft offers us various functions that we can't find natively in the operating system, regardless of the version. The applications that are part of this package are: Microsoft Family Safety, Windows Mail Desktop, OneDrive, Windows Movie Maker, Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Writer and Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector.
The problem we are faced with with this application package is that Microsoft has not updated it since 2012, and since 2017 it no longer allows us to download it through its servers. All this is due to the disappearance of the veteran Windows Live Messenger (the Internet WhatsApp in the early 2000s) in 2013. As of now, despite not having updated the application, it is perfectly compatible with the latest version of Windows 10 currently available on the market.
If you have the need to download this application, you should know that it is no longer available on Microsoft's servers, so if you find it on any server you must bear in mind that it is likely that inside you will find some other virus, malware or relatives of these.
To this day, and as the technology of smartphones and tablets has evolved, an application such as Windows Movie Maker, it does not make any sense, mainly due to the few features it offers us, compared to some video editors that we can find on both iOS and Android. But if our needs go through using the PC to create videos, we can use applications like Adobe Premiere, one of the best tools to create videos like a professional.
